Continuing its fight against drugs and alcohol, Lamblu Gram Panchayat in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh has decided to honor those families who will refrain from serving liquor and other intoxicants during marriage ceremonies. This decision was announced by village head Kartar Singh Chauhan during the Panchayat meeting on Tuesday. The gram panchayat, famous for its public welfare works, had already decided to punish those who smoke or consume alcohol.

The aim is to make Lamblu Gram Panchayat drug free

Chauhan said on Wednesday that campaigns are being conducted to make Lamblu Gram Panchayat drug free. He said that most of the families of the Panchayat have completely stopped the use of tobacco products and intoxicants in marriage ceremonies. Chouhan said, “In the near future, I will honor those families, especially women, who do not serve intoxicants in marriage ceremonies.”

The action plan for the year 2025-26 was discussed in the meeting and the villagers raised problems related to stray animals and wild animals. A unanimous resolution was passed in the meeting that the felling of trees, price and payment would be done only with the permission of the Panchayat.
