Increasing effect of Artificial Intelligence: Will jobs go or increase? "

The increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has affected almost every professional region of the world over the years. In particular, generative AI tools like Chatgpt have brought revolutionary changes in the works related to language, information, analysis and dialogue. It has reduced the need for human labor in many fields from data processing to article writing, customer service to research analysis. Although this technological development is proving to be efficiency, time saving and cost reduction, it is also threatening a large number of traditional jobs. According to the 2023 report of the ‘World Economic Forum’, AI will affect around 83 million jobs in the next five years, which will end some jobs and create some new roles. This means that AI can not only be a “job snatching”, but can also become “new jobs” -provided we change the skills in time.

The influence of AI in the field of education is very interesting and repeating. On the one hand it is providing state -of -the -art assistance to children – such as solving homework, explaining complex concepts or helping for exam preparation – on the other hand it has become a challenge for teachers and course makers. With the help of Chatgpt and other AI tools, students are now preparing answers without understanding, which can disrupt fundamental thinking, analytical ability and ideological development. But the other side of this is that teachers are now adopting more creative teaching methods, so that children can emphasize the tendency to consider and understand. UNESCO’s 2024 report shows that if controlled in the right direction, AI can bring revolutionary improvement in equality, access and quality all three. This change does not eliminate the job, but makes the role of teachers more sensitive, guide and instructor.

The most direct and clear impact in the field of jobs is on salaried middle class works. Especially works like BPOS, data entry, translation, customer service, reporting, basic coding, content writing, which were till now, are becoming largely automated due to AI. For example, IBM announced in 2023 that it would convert 7,800 posts with AI. On the other hand, new roles like ‘AI Prompt Engineer’, ‘Data Athics Officer’, ‘AI Trainer’, ‘Machine Learning Specialist’ etc. are emerging fast. This change is also a warning and opportunity. AI can prove to be a boon for those who have new technical understanding and digital skills. At the same time, people who will be ignorant of this change will be difficult to maintain existence at the workplace. That is why it is necessary that the employed people now adopt Lifelong Learning, that is, adopt the habit of learning throughout life.

The impact of AI in the field of media and journalism has been very intense and controversial. On the one hand, works like news writing, typing, transcription, video scripting are being done in minutes by AI tools, on the other hand, questions have also arisen on the truth, credibility and freedom of journalism. Many big media houses like Reuters, BBC and Bloomberg are now preparing their news reports with the help of AI. This process is fast and accurate, but it often loses human sensation and understanding of reference. The traditional role of journalists is also changing now -they are now becoming a professional to verify and analyze them, not finding information. It is clear that co-existence with AI is the only option in the media, where technology speeds up and human conscience determines its direction. Reporting jobs may be reduced, but new possibilities are opening up in areas such as investigation, fact-proofs, and idea.

The arrival of AI in the technical field has been both positive and creative. Especially in areas like software development, automation, Healthtech, Fintech, Cyber Security, AI’s role has now moved beyond the assistant to decisive. Tools like Github Copilot, Google Gemini and Chatgpt are now helping developers in coding. On the one hand, while it has increased the productivity, it has also raised the question whether the need for junior developers or entry level engineers will be reduced? However, companies like Microsoft and Accenture have clarified in reports that they look at AI as Human Augmentation (increasing human power), not as replacement. This means that technical experts should come to work with AI, as future jobs will be “AI -Enabled” -not by removing, but with it.

Finally it would be unilateral to say that AI is only a job snatching medium. The truth is that AI is an epoch -making tool that is challenging every field of human society and also a new form. It depends on us in what form we take this change – like fear or an opportunity for development. This is a golden opportunity for a young country like India, where a large number of youth can not only get employment by making their skills according to AI, but can also lead globally. The only requirement is that governments, educational institutions and private sector together give priority to reskilling again. Considering AI as an enemy, it is better to move forward by making it a companion. Only then this technical revolution will prove to be the revolution of ’employment generation’, not ‘snatching jobs’.
