Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Sunday that the opposition India alliance will continue in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he alleged that it was trying to grab land like a mafia through the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.
Addressing a press conference, Yadav said that in the 2027 assembly elections, the PDA (Backward, Dalit and Minority) would uproot the BJP from the state “. When asked about the India block, he reiterated, “India is a coalition (current) and will”, remove doubts about the fate of the alliance formed before the 2024 general elections.
He said, “The BJP has brought the Waqf Amendment Bill so that it can take away the land. Wherever they see the land, they capture it.” He described the BJP as a “land mafia party”. He accused the ruling party of “snatching” and reducing the right to reservation through demonetisation and GST.
Yadav criticized the BJP for the operation of Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and promised that “mismanagement” would be investigated if his party comes to power. The SP chief claimed that the government gave wrong figures about casualties and financial benefits during the event and alleged that drones and CCTV surveillance failed during the stampede in January.
He claimed, “When (at the time of stampede) drones and CCTVs were most needed, they were either closed or closed.” Yadav also accused the government of pressurizing relatives of stampede victims to change the cause of death.
On the controversial statement made by SP MP Ramji Lal Suman on Rana Sanga, Yadav said, “The history that shows each other the superior and inferior, the history that prevents our progress, should allow that history to live.” Yadav gave reporters a booklet of his suggestions for Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025, which was originally posted on social media, and informed about a study of Harvard University at the 2013 Prayagraj Kumbh Mela. He came to Prayagraj to attend the wedding of the daughter of SP state president Shyam Lal Pal.
