The Ministry of External Affairs said that the two sides agreed to continue close cooperation in implementing the roadmap prepared under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2024 during the Kuwait visit of Kuwait. Also, both sides decided to determine the meetings of Joint Working Groups (JWGS) under the Joint Commission (JCC) as soon as possible. The next round of foreign office consultation will be in Kuwait. During this time, Samih like Johar Hayat also met Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary (CPV & Oia).
According to Mea, “India and Kuwait have close and multidimensional relations. Bilateral trade between the two countries is US $ 10.2 billion per year in 2024-25. The presence of more than one million Indians in Kuwait is a proof of relations between strong people.”
India was included in the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with this country since the independence of Kuwait (1961), initially through the Trade Commissioner’s Office. The relationship was upgraded in a strategic partnership during PM Modi’s 2024 visit.
