Union Steel and Heavy Industries Minister of India H.D. Kumaraswamy successfully completed the three -day diplomatic and commercial journey of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During this time he participated in high level meetings, through which concrete progress is being expected between India and UAE to deepen business relations and industrial cooperation.
The delegation also included senior officials of the Ministry of Steel, and the three major Indian Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Mixon Limited (Mecon) and the President of the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) – also.
India’s global presence promoted
During the visit, Minister Kumaraswamy inaugurated the representative offices of these three companies in Dubai. The initiative is part of the Government of India’s ‘Make in India, for the World’ strategy, under which Indian steel companies are now emphasizing their global expansion and exploitation of international occasions.
Discussion on strategic dialogues and green steel cooperation
Minister Kumaraswamy had a bilateral meeting with UAE’s Economy and Tourism Minister Abdullah bin Tauk al Marry. During this time many important topics were discussed, including:
Joint effort towards cooperation and sustainable development in green steel
Partnership in the production of high-grade steel and aluminum for defense and automobile sector
Shared initiative and investment opportunities to strengthen supply chain
Visit strategic sites and dialogue with industries

During these tours, the delegation established contact with major players of the regional metal industry and discussed the possibilities of partnership.
Connection with Indian migrant community
Minister Kumaraswamy also met members of the Karnataka Pravasi community settled in the UAE and attended a roundsted meeting with steel companies organized by India Business & Professional Council Dubai. The meeting had the opportunity to share direct communication and feedback with industry representatives.
Strategic partnership got new dimension
The journey has been part of a regular high-level exchange between India and the UAE, which has become quite fast in recent years. The mission has further strengthened Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two, as well as showing India’s commitment to expand the industrial presence in the Middle Eastern market. Through this tour, a strong base has been prepared for future cooperation in steel, mineral and advanced manufacturing areas.
