New Delhi. After ending the tension on LAC in Ladakh, India and China are now once again moving towards resolving the border dispute. In this series, a meeting is to be held in Beijing on 17th and 18th December between the special representatives of India and China to resolve the border dispute. National Security Advisor i.e. NSA Ajit Doval will participate in this meeting from India’s side. Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be the chief negotiator in the meeting from the Chinese side. The Special Representative level meeting to resolve the border dispute between India and China was last held in December 2019.
Ajit Doval has already talked to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi several times.
The border dispute between India and China dates back to the British era. The British divided the border between India and China through the McMahon Line. China refuses to accept this. China claims eastern Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh as its part. At the same time, India says that the McMahon Line is the border between India and China. During the 1962 war, China occupied a large part of eastern Ladakh. There is a dispute between India and China on the entire LAC except Sikkim. India has given maps related to all areas to China, but China is reluctant to give the maps.
After the tension on LAC ended, the Indian Army fed sweets to the Chinese Army on Diwali.
In the year 2020, China had encroached on LAC in Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh. On this there was a clash between Chinese soldiers and the Indian Army. More than 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in this. At the same time, Indian Army’s Colonel B. 20 soldiers including Santosh Babu were martyred. After this, India deployed large-scale troops and weapons on LAC in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. China had also deployed its army everywhere. After several diplomatic and military level talks with China, an agreement was reached between the two countries in October 2024 to restore the old situation on the LAC. After this, Indian and Chinese armies retreated on LAC.
