New Delhi: India has conducted one successful flight test after another of the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VLSRSAM). After its successful test on Thursday, the second consecutive test was conducted on Friday. A day before this, on September 12, the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile was successfully flight tested from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur.
Testing from Chandipur range in Odisha
On Friday, once again the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Navy successfully tested the missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) of Chandipur, Odisha. In the test conducted on Friday, the missile simulated a threat at sea while flying at a very low altitude and during this time intercepted a high-speed aerial target. According to the Ministry of Defense, this has demonstrated the accuracy and ability of this missile to neutralize targets. This test has been done after the first test conducted on September 12, 2024.
The Defence Ministry said on Friday that in the first test conducted on September 12, the VLSRSAM missile had effectively hit another low-altitude target. These consecutive tests demonstrate the reliability of the weapon system. It also reflects the recent upgrades made in various components of this weapon system.
Defense Minister congratulated
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised DRDO, Indian Navy and all the associated teams for the successful flight tests. He said that this missile equipped with modern technologies will further enhance the technical capabilities of the armed forces. Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO Dr. Sameer V. Kamat has also congratulated the teams involved in the flight tests of the VLSRSAM system. (IANS)
