The Indian Navy successfully test-fired K-4 ballistic missile from INS Arighat on Wednesday (27 November). The range of this missile is 3500 kilometers. According to sources related to the Indian Navy, the results of this missile test are being analyzed. After the analysis of the results is completed, the concerned authorities will inform the key officials of the army and key leaders of the government about the test results.

India has earlier successfully tested ground-launched ballistic missile and launch system. In such a situation, this test is important to prepare the second line of attack.

Indian Navy will do many more tests

The Indian Navy had commissioned the submarine (INS Arighat) into its fleet at the Ship Building Center in Visakhapatnam in August. Sources said that before testing the full range of the missile, DRDO had conducted several tests of firing the missile from an underwater platform. The Indian Navy is now planning to conduct more tests of the missile system.

Third submarine may be included next year

The Navy has two nuclear submarines with ballistic missile capability, including INS Arihant and Arighat. The third submarine has also been launched and is expected to join the Navy next year.

Successful test of hypersonic missile on 16 November

DRDO successfully flight-tested its long-range hypersonic missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on 16 November 2024. This hypersonic missile has been designed to carry various payloads to a range of more than 1500 km for all services of the Indian Armed Forces. The missile was tracked by various range systems deployed in different domains. The missile has been indigenously developed by the laboratories of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, Hyderabad along with various other DRDO laboratories and industry partners.
