India Summoned Canada's Deputy High Commissioner: India summoned Canada's Deputy High Commissioner, recalled its diplomats, India summoned Canada's Deputy High Commissioner, recalled its diplomats

New Delhi. The case of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau terming the role of the Indian High Commissioner as suspicious in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar has now gained momentum. Expressing a strong reaction on this matter, India has summoned Canadian Deputy High Commissioner Stewart Wheeler in Delhi. With this, India has decided to recall its High Commissioners and officials from Canada. Earlier, the Indian Foreign Ministry had completely rejected the Canadian PM’s statement, terming it absurd.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs says that in an environment of extremism and violence, the actions of the Trudeau government put the safety of our officials at risk. We have no confidence in the current Canadian government’s commitment to ensuring their safety. Therefore, the Government of India has decided to recall the High Commissioner and other targeted diplomats and officials. The Indian government hit back at these allegations by the Canadian PM, saying that this is part of his political agenda. Along with this, India has called it a negative step for bilateral relations between the two countries.

It was underlined that in an atmosphere of extremism and violence, the Trudeau Government’s actions endangered their safety. The Indian Foreign Ministry criticized Trudeau’s statement, calling it an encouragement to anti-India separatist Khalistani supporters. The Foreign Ministry said that all these activities in Canada have been justified in the name of freedom of expression. Rapid work has also been done to grant citizenship to some people who entered Canada illegally. Apart from this, Canada’s demand for extradition of anti-India elements living on its soil is also being continuously ignored.

Let us tell you that Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead in British Columbia in June last year. Two months after this murder, in September 2023, the Canadian government alleged that Indian agents were involved in Nijjar’s murder, after which relations between India and Canada became tense. In this regard, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has repeatedly sought evidence from the Canadian government regarding the allegations made by them, but till date the Canadian government has not been able to provide any evidence.
