India welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran on Tuesday, 24 June 2025 and appreciated the US and Qatar mediation in implementing it. The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) said in a statement that India was monitoring overnight developments, including the US attack on Iran’s nuclear bases and retaliatory attacks on US military bases in Qatar from Iran.
Mea said, “We are deeply concerned about the possibilities of regional safety and stability, but welcome the news of ceasefire between Israel and Iran and the role of America and Qatar in it.” The statement emphasized that there is no alternative to dialogue and diplomacy to solve various conflicts of the region. India said that it is ready to play its role in association with all sides for permanent peace and stability.
The ceasefire took place on the initiative of US President Donald Trump, who described it as the end of the “12 -day war”. However, a few hours after the ceasefire, the two sides accused each other of violation. India appealed to all sides to exercise restraint and maintain peace.
