New Delhi. After the Pahalgam terror attack, India postponed the Indus Water Agreement in 1960 from Pakistan. Now information is being received that India has made a big plan about the Indus and other rivers related to the agreement. According to the news of the English newspaper Times of India, the central government has prepared to carry water from Indus and other rivers to Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. A 113 km long canal will be built for this. This canal is to be made by connecting the Chenab river with the rivers Sutlej, Ravi and Beas. With the formation of the canal, India will be able to use the additional water going to Pakistan for itself.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the training camp of BJP workers in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, asked to build a canal. Amit Shah had said that the water of Indus and other rivers will be taken to Sriganganagar in Rajasthan through canals in 3 years. Amit Shah also told BJP workers that Pakistan will now yearn for every drop of water. According to the news of the newspaper, the canal that India is going to build, 13 canals already existing in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan will be added. Then the rest of the water of the main canal will be added to the Indira Gandhi Canal system.
Under the Indus Water Agreement, India was empowered by Pakistan and Sutlej, Ravi and Beas rivers on the water of Indus, Jhelum and Chenab rivers. Due to not having much dam on all these rivers, India was not able to use its share of water properly. In such a situation, most of the water of India also went to Pakistan. Due to which there was fierce farming in Pakistan. Now Pakistan will face problems with the central government’s decision to build canal. Because if the Indus Water Agreement is re -implemented, it will get less water than before. Pakistan is continuously demanding to re -implement the Indus Water Agreement. India is stopping water from many dams in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, there has been a shortage of water in Pakistan.
