Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh held L.M. Making a big disclosure in the Katre Memorial Lecture, he said that during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force had killed five Pakistan’s fighter jets and a large aircraft. The aircraft was probably of AWACS (Airborne Early Warning and Control) or ELINT category. Describing it as the largest surface-to-air attack ever, he said that the S-400 missile system played a decisive role in it and proved to be the “game-changer” of the operation. Operation Sindoor ran between 7 to 10 May 2025 and its objective was to target the terrorist bases in Pakistan.
According to the Air Force chief, the broad range of S-400 stopped Pakistani aircraft from using their full capacity and the effectiveness of the attack was so much that Pakistan understood that if the struggle went long, it would have to suffer more. Because of this, the path of ceasefire opened in a few days. Amar Preet Singh also said that the freedom given to political will and military command in this operation made the plan and execution very easy. India adopted a prudent and accurate strategy, avoiding any kind of extreme reaction. Witnesses and media reports also revealed that India had killed at least five fighter jets and a large aircraft across the border, increasing the credibility of the claim.
Before this operation, Defense Secretary R.K. Singh had made it clear that there was no harm to India’s Rafale Jets and the statements related to the claims being made by Pakistan, especially the French Air Chief. Amar Preet Singh also reminded that it was a long -time dream for the Indian Air Force to reach the Sargodha airbase of Pakistan and make an accurate attack there for a long time, which was fulfilled in this operation. He said that the inclusion of S-400 has brought a new height to India’s air defense capacity and it is not only defense, but also in strategic aggression. Overall, Operation Sindoor strengthened India’s technical capacity, accurate plan, and the image of decisive military action, as well as a message to Pakistan that India would not compromise with its borders and security.
