The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a red alert of heavy to heavy rains in Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Malappuram districts of Kerala in the next 24 hours.
Orange alerts have been issued for Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamathitta, while Alappuzha, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram are under Yellow alert. “From 14 to 17 June 2025, there is heavy (24 cm in 24 hours) and very heavy (24 hours in 24 hours in some places in Kerala in Kerala (24 hours) and very heavy (24 hours in 24 hours) Rainfall is expected to receive more than 20 cm). On 18 June 2025, there is a possibility of heavy (7–11 cm in 24 hours) to very heavy (12-20 cm in 24 hours).
The south-west monsoon has become active again after a small interval of about two weeks, on Thursday morning several parts of Karnataka received rain. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “extensive” rain warning in almost all areas, in which almost all the districts have predicted “widespread” rains. Hubli area of Dharwad district of Karnatak received torrential rains in the early hours of Thursday, causing heavy waterlogging in many parts of the district, especially Hanashi village.
According to the Meteorological Department, there will be widespread rainfall in coastal and northern interior Karnataka by 17 June. Meanwhile, by June 14, the districts of southern interior Karnataka will have “quite widespread” rainfall, then it will be “wide” in the next three days.
In coastal Karnataka districts, IMD “has predicted heavy to heavy rainfall with air running at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, which is likely to be in some places and there is a possibility of extremely heavy rains at one or two places in South Kannada, North Kannada and Udupi districts.”
