New Delhi. India on Tuesday denied China’s claim about Taiwan that Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar again stressed during a conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that Taiwan is a part of China. A government source clarified India’s stand about Taiwan, saying that India’s attitude on economic, technical and cultural relations from Taipei is the same. The government source told the media that like the rest of the world, India also has a relationship with Taiwan and wants to continue it. India has not recognized Taiwan. Whereas, about 12 countries in the world recognize Taiwan.
Earlier, China’s official media Xinhua on Monday issued a statement of Chinese State Department claiming that Jaishankar has also once again considered Taiwan as part of China. Xinhua also wrote that Jaishankar has said that bilateral relations between India and China are becoming normal. Xinhua also wrote that the Foreign Minister of India thanked China for facilitating Indian devotees to visit the religious places in Tibet and emphasized cooperation to increase strategic issues.
India does not have an official diplomatic relationship with Taiwan. India has always supported the ‘one China policy’. Under this, India has recognized China of the mainland. However, India interacted with Taiwan after a struggle with the Chinese army in the Galwan Valley. India sent his senior diplomat Gauranglal Das as representative in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. In the same year, two MPs from India also attended the swearing in of Sai Ing Wayne on Taiwan’s presidential president. India also described former Taiwan President Lee Teng Hui as Mr. Democracy in a condolence message. Apart from this, India has always kept distance from political statement about Taiwan. India does not even have an embassy in Taiwan. He has definitely opened office in Taiwan for business and cultural relations. On the day of China, China threatens that it will capture Taiwan by military action. At the same time, the US and some of its allies have stood in favor of Taiwan for decades.
