India on Tuesday targeted Islamabad for a response to the comment on Jammu and Kashmir during a podcast by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that Pakistan should vacate its “illegal” Indian territory instead of “spreading lies”. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that the world knows that the real issue in Jammu and Kashmir is “actively promoting and sponsoring terrorism from Pakistan across the border”. During the podcast with Lex Freedman, Prime Minister Modi said, “Every attempt to promote peace with Pakistan has been answered with enmity and betrayal” and hopes, “Pakistani leadership to improve bilateral relations will be good for Pakistani leadership”.

Pakistan on Monday dismissed the remarks as “misleading and unilateral”. Jaiswal said, “We have found that Pakistan has once again made some comments about the Union Territory of India, Jammu and Kashmir.” He said, “The world knows that the real issue is to actively promote and sponsor terrorism across the border. Jaiswal said, “Instead of spreading lies, Pakistan should vacate its illegal and forced -occupied Indian territory.”
