It is important for Indian citizens working abroad to be very careful to avoid fraud. Many times, young people looking for work are cheated by agents or due to lack of information. Even after getting work, there are cases of workers being mistreated by employers. Something similar has happened with a woman named Tirpathi Kavitha, a resident of Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh.
Brought safely to India on 14 September
According to media reports, Kavita, who was working as a migrant worker in Kuwait, was not being treated well by her employer. She informed her family about this, after which this matter came to light. The police also started investigating the matter immediately and efforts were made to bring the woman home safely.
It is said that the woman was locked in a room and no one took care of even basic facilities like food and water. Her phone and passport etc. were snatched away so that she could not tell her plight to anyone.
Appeal for help through video
But somehow the woman requested the concerned authorities for help through a video and appealed to save her life. The woman had lost hope of survival but within just 48 hours, her passport and visa were arranged and she was safely brought to India. An investigation has also been started against the agent.
What can we do to avoid this kind of trouble?
Indian workers often go to Gulf countries in search of work. If you are also thinking of going abroad, then definitely check the authenticity of your agent. Many times agents trap innocent workers by taking them abroad. Also keep the correct information about Visa and Passport. Keep the contact details of the embassy and the concerned officials so that in case of any problem, you can inform immediately.
