India’s diplomatic initiative has gained great success. Colombia has withdrawn its earlier statement that mourned the deaths in Pakistan during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and expressed support for India’s stand. The move was taken after the objection of the all -party delegation on a visit to the US under the leadership of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.
Tharoor said after meeting Columbia Deputy Foreign Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavisanso in Bogota that the Columbia government has withdrawn the disputed statements and fully understood India’s situation. He said, “The Deputy Minister assured us that he has withdrawn the statement that objected to us, and now they understand our situation completely.”
Earlier, Colombia had mourned the deaths in Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on 7 May, while India took this action in response to the murder of 26 civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Expressing disappointment on Colombia’s response, Tharoor said that there could be no similarity between terrorists and self -defense.
BJP MP Shashank Mani also said that Columbia, who was once influenced by terrorism, now understands India’s situation well. He said, “We have brought the message of peace and will give appropriate answers to every terrorist attack.”
This development is an important step towards India’s global introduction of zero tolerance policy against terrorism globally.
