New Delhi. Writing a new chapter, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched the country’s first analog space mission in Leh, Ladakh. The objective of this unique mission is to train Indian astronauts in difficult and complex conditions on Earth before the actual space travel. This mission is being seen as a historic step in the Indian space program.
What is analog space mission?
Analog space mission is a technology through which space-like conditions are created on Earth. Under this technique an area has been selected that appears to be the surface of the Moon or Mars. Here the astronauts will face difficulties living with limited resources and in a challenging environment. Its purpose is to foresee potential problems in space and develop solutions to them.

training with limited resources
In this mission, astronauts will be taught to work with limited resources and limited communication facilities. During this time they will practice walking on difficult terrains and facing these challenges. Such training will prepare them mentally and physically during actual space travel.
Testing and improving techniques
Another important objective of analog space missions is to test the technologies and protocols that will be adopted in space travel. This mission will help scientists understand which technologies work well and which technologies need improvement. This test is expected to make significant progress in India’s space research.
Mission realized through collaborative efforts
This mission is being conducted in collaboration with ISRO’s Human Spaceflight Centre, AAKA Space Studio, University of Ladakh and IIT Bombay. Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council has also supported this mission. This collaboration shows that many institutions are working together for space research in India, which will help India play a leading role in global space research in the times to come.
A new height in India’s space exploration
This analog space mission of ISRO is an effort to take India’s space research to a new height. This mission is not only making our astronauts strong and experienced, but is also a major step towards ensuring India’s leading role in space exploration in the future.
