Indications of presence of Lithium in Odisha.
Bhubaneswar: A recent study by the Geological Survey of India (GSI) has indicated the presence of lithium in some districts of Odisha. A senior GSI official gave this information on Sunday. Let us tell you that lithium is a widely used metal in the production of lead, aluminum products and batteries. The official said that lithium reserves have been found earlier in Karnataka and parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Indications found in investigation
GSI Deputy Director General Pankaj Kumar said, “No such major discovery has been made, but there are some indications of presence of lithium (in Odisha). We are still in the very early stages, so we should not make any claims. However, geologically speaking, some indications have been found in the Eastern Ghats area, such as Nayagarh.” Pankaj Kumar was speaking on the sidelines of the GSI meeting held here ahead of the two-day National Mines Ministers’ Conference starting in Konark from Monday. Was doing. An official said, “If lithium is found in Odisha, it could pave the way for setting up electric vehicle manufacturing units in the state.”

Speaking on the matter, Union Mines Secretary VL Kanta Rao said that GSI is surveying mineral deposits in Odisha through various methods including the use of drones. He said GSI has also started using drones as well as artificial intelligence to locate valuable mineral resources, including lithium and copper. V L Kanta Rao said, “Things are now becoming easier and faster with the use of drone based technologies.” He said, “Two projects have been started in India on an experimental basis.
