Amid the recent developments in Bangladesh, politics and diplomacy are struggling to improve mutual relations, while faith seems to be doing this work well. This is officially the first cultural program between India and Bangladesh after these incidents.
The government of Bangladesh acting Prime Minister Mohammad Yunus partially sponsored the group of Bangladeshi artists for a presentation at Mahakumbh. A six -member dance troupe from Bangladesh performed on Saturday evening at the inaugural session of the 10th India International Dance and Music Festival at the 13,000 -seat temporary central cultural center Ganga Pandal in Kumbh. The event was jointly organized by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Indian Cultural Relations Council (ICCR).
Bangladeshi artists were not coming for a long time
ICCR works under the Ministry of External Affairs. Earlier, Bangladesh was absent from major cultural programs in India, such as the International Kolkata Book Fair 2025 and the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival in December last year. However earlier Bangladesh used to continuously participate in these programs. The dance troupe was part of the 107 -member delegation of foreign artists representing 10 countries. It was led by Rachel Priyanka Persis, assistant professor of the dance department of Dhaka University. The congregation performed the Gaudia dance, a Vaishnav dance style based on religious stories, poetry and music.
Dance troupe will perform in six states
The dance troupe will perform in Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya after its two-day performance at Mahakumbh on 22 and 23 February and will have its last schedule in Delhi later this month. Priyanka said, “I am lucky that I got a chance to perform in the middle of this ocean of humanity. I thank the Indian High Commission for inviting us. We did not have any problem in getting a visa. ”He introduced other members of his team – seasonal, Loboni, Rini, Raisa and Pinky.
Artists from these countries are taking parts
Officials said that besides India and Bangladesh, artists from Russia, Mongolia, Rwanda, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Vietnam, Malaysia, South Africa and Fiji are also participating in it. He said that the program was part of the Cultural Exchange Program Agreement (CEPA) between India and many countries, which aims to promote Indian culture abroad and to familiarize local artists with international art and culture.
