Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a clear announcement that now the Indus Water Agreement will never be implemented. After this statement, the Government of Pakistan has said that it will take steps at every level to get the rights of water. At the same time, this news is coming that there have been differences between the army and civil administration in Pakistan on the issue of water. As a result, a big officer has also resigned.
According to the newspaper Navbharat Times, retired Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani, President of Water and Electricity Development Authority in Pakistan, has left the post. According to the newspaper, Sajjad Gani resigned due to differences with the army. Differences between the Pakistan Water and Electricity Development Authority and the Army had flourished. Already all the people and leaders in Pakistan are alleging that due to the army’s steps, India has postponed the Indus Water Agreement and created a big problem for Pakistan. PM Narendra Modi has clearly said that water and blood cannot flow together. He also said that the Indus Water Agreement would be postponed until Pakistan completely ends terrorism.
The Indus Water Agreement between India and Pakistan was signed in 1960. This is a bilateral agreement between the two. In which the World Bank has also played a role. The government of Pakistan is constantly saying that India did not accept the international agreement. At the same time, India says that Pakistan carried out terrorist activities and took enmity steps. In such a situation, the Indus Water Agreement cannot continue. Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary also threatened India on postponing the Indus Water Agreement, but India did not take back from its decision. India also intends that they will turn 315 km long canal and turn the water going to Pakistan towards Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. It will take three years.
