New Delhi. Former Chief Justice of Manipur High Court Siddharth Mridul explained the reasons for violence in the state during a panel discussion in Delhi on Tuesday. According to the English newspaper Hindustan Times, the former Chief Justice said that invisible forces in Manipur are promoting violence and burning the state. Justice Siddharth Mridul said that it is necessary to control the situation in Manipur immediately. Otherwise there will be nothing left here. Former Chief Justice of Manipur High Court Siddharth Mridul said that some elements want Manipur to continue burning. He said that he now agrees that invisible forces are behind the continuous violence in Manipur. Justice Mridul said that it is not yet clear who is behind the violence in Manipur, but it could be external or internal.

The former Chief Justice of Manipur High Court said that he is saying this because every time there is peace, there comes a fresh wave of violence. Justice Siddharth Mridul said that someone or the other is involved in increasing violence in Manipur. He said that there seems to be no end to the caste conflict in Manipur. Former Chief Justice of Manipur High Court said that a large number of security forces were deployed in the state, but those affected by the violence are still not able to return home. Justice Siddharth Mridul said that restoration of peace in Manipur should be a priority. Otherwise the situation may worsen and violence may spread to other states also. He said that it seems as if no one has control there.

Justice Siddharth Mridul took over as the Chief Justice of Manipur High Court in October 2023. Violence had started there even before that. To stop the violence in Manipur, the Central Government has deployed 60,000 personnel of central forces including Army and CRPF. Yet, from time to time, violence begins. More than 200 people have been killed in the violence in Manipur. Violence is taking place between Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur. Violence broke out here in May 2023 following an order related to reservation by the Manipur High Court.
