Foreign Minister S Jaishankar reiterated India’s strict policy against terrorism and said that if the terrorists hide deeply in Pakistan, then India will also reach there. He clarified that India will no longer tolerate terrorism and will respond to the terrorists by visiting their hideouts. The statement came in a press conference on Tuesday, where Jaishankar spoke on India’s foreign policy and security strategy.
Jaishankar said, “Terrorists do not believe in any border rules. If they think they are safe in Pakistan, then our policy is clear – wherever they are, we will reach them.” Referring to the 2019 Balakot air strike, he said that India has also shown that it is capable of taking decisive action against terrorism. This statement has come in recent times amidst increasing terrorist activities from across the border.
The Foreign Minister insisted that India’s policy is no longer defensive, but active. He said, “We have a zero tolerance policy against terrorism. We will not only protect our boundaries, but will also take action across the border if needed.” Jaishankar also clarified that this stance of India gives the international community a message to unite against terrorism.
The opposition has also reacted to this statement. The Congress asked the government whether this statement is only rhetoric or a solid strategy behind it. Meanwhile, this stance of Jaishankar on social media is being appreciated, where people are considering it a symbol of India’s strong foreign policy.
