Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Saturday that the tourism sector has been badly affected and the administration is now focusing on ensuring safe and accident -free Amarnath Yatra. He said “Tourism has been affected very badly. We barely come to us in the summer season. Now we are focusing on Amarnath Yatra. We want Amarnath Yatra to be fulfilled without any accident. We want the devotees coming for the Amarnath Yatra to return safe and healthy after their journey.”
The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir was presiding over a meeting with the Hotel Businesses Association at the Civil Secretariat. He held this meeting to discuss the concerns of hotel businessmen after the terrorist attack in Pahalga on 22 April. This attack has greatly affected tourism in the region.
Chief Minister Abdullah assured the various stakeholders present in the meeting that the government is fully committed to cooperate with the region and would carefully consider their valuable suggestions.
