Srinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has ordered the Central Government to bring back the woman named Rakshanda Rashid who was deployed to Pakistan. Rakshanda Rashid’s husband has filed a petition in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court stating that no family of his wife lives in Pakistan. Rakshanda Rashid’s husband has also said in the petition that his wife has serious diseases. During the hearing in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, this information was also given to the bench of Justice Rahul Bharti on behalf of the petitioner that Rakshanda Rashid is currently living in a hotel in Lahore.
The petition states that Rakshanda Rashid has been living in India for 38 years. He also has two children. The merit of the petition is under hearing in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Regarding the petition, Justice Rahul Bharti said that the hearing on merit is going on, but sometimes the court that set a constitutional case has to intervene on the issue of humanity. The court said that human rights have the biggest role in the issue of human life. The bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court said that because of this it is ordering the Union Home Ministry to bring Rakshanda Rashid back from Pakistan.
After the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, the central government took decisions about Pakistan and the citizens there. The central government had ordered all Pakistani citizens who came to India to go back to their country. After this, on May 30, Rakshanda Rashid was deployed to Pakistan. On the same date, the first hearing was in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on the petition filed by Rakshanda’s husband. The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has said that it will now hear the next hearing in this case on 1 July 2025.
