Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Vande Bharat Express between Katra and Srinagar on 6 June, which will symbolize the completion of the Katra-Sangaldan Rail Link Project.
The new route also includes the world’s highest railway bridge Chenab Bridge, which makes it a historic milestone for Indian Railways. The inauguration has caused enthusiasm among the residents of the region.
Talking to ANI, Abdul Aziz Chandel said, “It will be very convenient if the train service starts here. We are very grateful to the government to work on it. This will give a lot of convenience to the common people.”
Another local resident Kesar Singh mentioned the positive change remembering the past of the area. “I am very happy that the train services started here. First the situation was bad due to extremism here. But now everything is good here. Nobody thought that the train will come here.” He said, “This train will prove to be very convenient for the people. I am appreciating the Prime Minister’s Operations Celvu Yave Pakistan.”

Chaudhary Ghulam Hussain urged more development, saying, “We have been waiting for the train to arrive from Katra as soon as possible. We want our people to take advantage of it. We need such projects in Gulmarg, Srinagar and Pahalgam.”
Hussain said that detail will create employment opportunities for the local people.
He said, “If it is brought to the tourism map, it will be very good for us and the people here, as it will increase employment opportunities for our children.” Another local person Kuldeep Kumar Sharma said, “We had no hope that the train would run. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed it to be true. It is a matter of happiness.
Meanwhile, security arrangements have been tightened at Udhampur railway station before the Prime Minister’s visit. The completion of this link will not only increase regional connectivity but will also connect with Jammu and Kashmir National Railway Grid even more closely.
