Jammu. The final phase of voting for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will be held on Tuesday i.e. October 1. Tight security arrangements have been made in all areas for voting. Voting will be held in the third phase for 40 seats of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Of these, 24 seats are in Jammu, Samba, Udhampur and Kathua. The remaining seats are in Kashmir Valley. The 24 seats of Jammu, Samba, Udhampur and Kathua where voting is to be held in the third phase are Hindu dominated. Under the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, people will elect their candidates on 90 out of 114 seats. 24 seats have been kept for Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. It is not possible to hold any election on them right now.
In the third phase, voting will also be held on 16 seats of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora of Kashmir Valley. During the third phase of elections in Jammu, Samba, Udhampur and Kathua, the contest is being said to be mainly between BJP and Congress. At the same time, due to the presence of candidates from BJP, Congress-National Conference alliance, PDP and other parties in Kashmir, a multi-cornered contest can be seen. Of the Hindu-dominated districts where voting is to be held in the third phase, BJP had won 18 seats last time. National Conference had got 2 seats. This time 4 new assembly seats have been created in Jammu, Samba, Udhampur and Kathua.
Assembly elections are being held here for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution related to Jammu and Kashmir. While giving orders on the petitions, the Supreme Court had ordered to hold Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections by September 2024. Congress and National Conference have formed an alliance here. At the same time, BJP and PDP have not formed any alliance with anyone. Engineer Rashid’s party is also contesting the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. At the same time, a large number of independents have also entered the fray to try their luck.
