Vehicle manufacturer Nissan, dismissing all the speculation about exit from the Indian market, said on Wednesday that it was working towards increasing its business here. A top company official said this.
Saurabh Vats, managing director of Japanese company Nissan’s Indian subsidiary Nissan Motor India, said at an online press conference that there is no plan to go out of the Indian market.
He said that in reality the company is planning to introduce three new products in the Indian market by the beginning of 2027 and is also intended to add 20 new dealerships this year.
The company wants to keep a variety of products in its portfolio and in the current financial year it has set a target of selling one lakh units in domestic and export markets.
Vats said, “It is very important that I will put a stop to all those speculation that Nissan is planning to exit India and reducing the share of Reno Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL).”
On March 31 this year, Reno announced the acquisition of 51 percent stake of Nissan, a participant in its Indian manufacturing joint venture RNAIPL. However, the amount included in this acquisition deal was not disclosed.
Referring to a long tenure of about 60 years in India, Vats said, “It is very important to understand that we are completely frozen in India .. Our production plans, our future capacity, everything is ready.” They are all safe, nothing is out of coordination. We are here and we are living here. ”
He said that the company will introduce a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) with a seven -seat vehicle (MPV) in the first quarter of 2026. After this, in the beginning of 2027, an SUV will also be brought which will be available in five seats and seven seats options.
However, the top official of Nissan India admitted that some dealers were separated but the company is bringing new sales partners. He said, “We currently have around 160 sales centers and we want to reach its number 180 by the end of the year.”
On this occasion, Nissan also announced to provide its SUV ‘Magnite’ with the government approved CNG retrofitment kit. The customer will have to pay an additional price of Rs 74,999 for this CNG kit.
The company said that the CNG kit will be implemented in a phased manner across the country. In the first phase, customers from Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala and Karnataka can get CNG kits installed from Nissan occupied dealerships. Later it will also be implemented in other states across the country.
