New Delhi: Janata Dal United has removed its party unit president in Manipur Biren Singh from his post on charges of indiscipline. JDU national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad has clarified that the party’s support to the NDA government in Manipur will continue. Rajeev Ranjan said, “The confusion that is being spread about Manipur is completely wrong and baseless. The party has taken cognizance of the matter and the Manipur unit president has been relieved from his post. Our support to NDA was there earlier also and will continue in future also. The state unit took this step without communicating with the central leadership, which is a case of indiscipline.”

The letter created a political uproar
There was a stir in political circles after a letter from Manipur’s NDA government withdrawing support to JDU became public. From Delhi to Patna, the party took immediate steps to handle the situation and removed Biren Singh from his post.

The national spokesperson said that this letter was issued by the Manipur JDU President without the consent of the central leadership, in which it was claimed to be separated from the NDA. The party considered it to be indiscipline and took action against him.
Rajeev Ranjan said, “The party stands with the NDA and the NDA government will remain in Manipur. The state unit will continue to serve the people of Manipur and work for the development of the state.”
