Rajit Gupta of Delhi Zone secured the top rank in IIT entry JEE Advance, which was declared on Monday.
According to officials of IIT Kanpur, an institute for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) -Dwansd, a total of 1,80,422 candidates were present in both papers 1 and 2 of the examination held on May 18.
“54,378 candidates have passed the examination, out of which 9,404 are women in the examination,” an official said.
Rajit Gupta, a resident of Kota, has secured 332 out of 360 and topped the Common Rank List (CRL).
Devdatta Majhi of IIT Kharagpur zone is a top ranked female candidate with CRL 16. He scored 312 points. JEE-Main, which is an examination taken for admission in engineering colleges across the country, qualifying test for JEE-Advanced.
A total of 116 foreign candidates also appeared in the examination, out of which 13 passed.
Out of the top 100 candidates, 31-31 are from Bombay and Delhi Zone while 23 are from IIT Hyderabad Zone. The top 100 candidates from Kanpur zone are four candidates, five from Kharagpur and six from Roorkee.
Explaining the criteria to include in the rank list, the official said that the total marks are the sum of marks obtained in mathematics, physics and chemistry. “To join the rank list, the candidates will have to complete the subject -wise and total qualification marks to join the rank list.”
