New Delhi. A new chapter has been added in the history of rail travel in Jammu and Kashmir. The much-awaited rail route from Jammu to Srinagar, Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), has received approval from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS). After this approval, trains will now travel directly to Kashmir Valley. This will prove to be a milestone for Indian Railways.
Vande Bharat, DEMU and MEMU trains will start operating.
Permission has been granted to run the train between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Dham Katra and Reasi at a speed of 85 kilometers per hour. At the same time, the train will operate at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour on the loop line of stations. Indian Railways is planning to soon run Vande Bharat Express, DEMU, and MEMU trains from Jammu to Srinagar.
Vande Bharat Train Service for Kashmir Valley
A special service of Vande Bharat Express train will be started from Jammu to Srinagar. This train will run on Katra-Srinagar-Katra route and will stop at major stations including Banihal, Qazigund.

Announcement of two new Vande Bharat trains possible
Indian Railways is planning to introduce two new Vande Bharat trains between Jammu and Srinagar. With this the number of semi-high-speed trains running in the state will increase to four. Already two Vande Bharat trains are being operated from New Delhi to Katra.
Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat train service will start soon
Vande Bharat train service between Jammu and Srinagar is expected to start in the current financial year. These trains will be operated and maintained by the Jammu division of Northern Railway.

According to sources, Vande Bharat train from Katra to Srinagar will depart from Katra at 8:10 am and reach Srinagar at 11:20 am. In the return journey, this train will depart from Srinagar at 12:45 pm and reach Katra at 3:55 pm. However, the final time table has not been released by the Railway Ministry yet. This new facility is not only limited to making the journey of passengers comfortable and fast, but is also a positive sign for the economy and tourism of Jammu and Kashmir. Through modern train services like Vande Bharat, better connectivity of Kashmir Valley with other areas of the country will now be established.
