Shivraj Singh Chouhan with Champai Soren
Giving a jolt to JMM before the Jharkhand assembly elections, the party’s strong leader and former CM Champai Soren has joined BJP. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has given a statement about Champai Soren. He said on Sunday that he is truly the tiger of Jharkhand. He is a leader who emerged from the furnace of the movement and established JMM. He is respected by the public. He is worried and has joined BJP to save Jharkhand. Shivraj said that the way he was insulted while being the Chief Minister, he was not even allowed to distribute appointment letters is condemnable. JMM has now become a party of only husband and wife. The coalition government is now sure to go. BJP will now form the government.
Earlier, Shivraj Singh Chouhan welcomed Champai Soren into the BJP at a ceremony on Friday and said, “The tiger is alive.” Soren is known as the ‘Kolhan Tiger’ in Jharkhand. He played an active role in the movement for the creation of Jharkhand along with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) supremo Shibu Soren. Former JMM leader Champai Soren joined the BJP on Friday. Two days ago, he resigned from the party citing dissatisfaction with the current working style of JMM and ‘bitter insult’.
“Champai nurtured JMM like a gardener”
Shivraj said, “Champai Soren fought very hard for the creation of Jharkhand and it was because of his efforts that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee created the state.” He said Champai nurtured JMM like a gardener but was given step-motherly treatment. Chouhan said, “When Champai was the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, he took tough decisions against middlemen. This angered JMM and it started insulting him. He was trying to free Jharkhand from corruption.”
“BJP government in Jharkhand after elections”
He said that BJP and Champai have taken a pledge that Jharkhand and its people will not be allowed to be insulted any more. Targeting the Hemant Soren-led government, Chauhan said that the JMM-Congress coalition government did not fulfill its promises. He said, “The corrupt government led by JMM will be uprooted and a BJP government will be formed in Jharkhand after the elections.” (Language)
