New Delhi. Delhi High Court has given a big blow to former President of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has filed an application in Delhi High Court to close the case of allegations leveled against him by wrestlers. Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to hear Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s application saying that why did he file only one application challenging the order and action to frame charges against him.
Justice Neena Bansal Krishna of Delhi High Court heard the petition of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. She said that there cannot be an all-pervasive order on everything. If you wanted to cancel the order on the charges against you, you could have come. This is an indirect way after the trial begins in the trial court. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh had filed a petition in Delhi High Court last Wednesday seeking cancellation of the case registered against him. However, Delhi High Court has fixed the next date as 26 September. The court has given time to file a note on arguments regarding the case registered against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the sexual harassment case and the petition to cancel the charges.
Brijbhushan Sharan Singh was accused of sexual harassment by Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat. Both the wrestlers had also alleged that Brijbhushan sexually harassed other female wrestlers. Brijbhushan Sharan Singh always denied the allegations. The case was investigated by the Delhi Police and a charge sheet was also filed against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh in the trial court. However, a minor female wrestler denied the allegations leveled by her against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. After which the Delhi Police filed an application in the court asking to remove the POCSO case against the former BJP MP. In this case, wrestlers along with Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat had also agitated a lot and also staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. This sit-in was ended by the Delhi Police. After which the opposition accused the Modi government of suppressing the voice of wrestlers.
