JPC President Jagdambika Pal will go to Karnataka: JPC President Jagdambika Pal will go to Karnataka, will meet farmers, matter related to Waqf Board.

New Delhi. Jagdambika Pal, Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024, will visit Karnataka on Thursday. In Karnataka, he will meet the farmers whose farming land was claimed by the Waqf Board and after which the Congress government of Karnataka issued a notice to those farmers. However, after the controversy over this matter increased, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had issued an order to withdraw the notice. Earlier, BJP MP from Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya had last week written a letter to JPC President Jagdambika Pal in this matter requesting that the farmers of Vijayapura district be called as witnesses to discuss their land disputes with the Waqf Board. It is noteworthy that the Waqf Board had recently laid claim to 1200 acres of agricultural land of farmers in Vijayapura district of Karnataka. After the Waqf Board laid claim on the farmers’ land, the Congress government of Karnataka had issued a notice to the farmers. Since then this issue is continuously gaining momentum. Karnataka government is surrounded in this matter. Initially the news of the notice was rejected by the Karnataka government.

Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar had said that no such notice has been issued to the farmers by our government, but recently Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued an order to withdraw the notice. Since then the government is facing disgrace. At the same time, the victimized farmers say that this land is their ancestral land on which their grandfathers and great grandfathers have been doing farming years ago and now they themselves are growing grains on that land, in such a situation, the Waqf Board declaring their land as theirs is completely wrong. is unfair.
