44 proposal to amend the provisions

The committee accepted all the amendments proposed by the BJP members and rejected the amendments of the opposition members. Opposition members in the committee proposed amendment in all the 44 provisions of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and claimed that the “oppressive” character of the law bill proposed by the committee would retain the character and intervention in religious matters of Muslims Will try to do it.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on August 8, 2024 after the Union Minorities Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju was introduced in the Lok Sabha. The Bill aims to amend the Waqf Act, 1995 to resolve issues and challenges related to regulating and managing Waqf properties.
