New Delhi. The committee of 3 judges constituted in Justice Yashwant Verma Cash case case has submitted its report to the Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna of the Supreme Court. According to information received by sources, the committee of judges has also given statements of all the concerned including Justice Yashwant Verma in the report. This report has been submitted to the CJI last week. Now CJI Sanjeev Khanna will take a decision on the cash scandal after seeing this report. Supreme Court Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna can also make the report of the committee of judges public.
Justice Yashwant Verma is currently in the Allahabad High Court. He was in the Delhi High Court at the time of the cash scandal. A fire broke out on 14 March 2025 at the outhouse of Justice Yashwant Verma’s house in Delhi. When the employees of the fire brigade arrived to extinguish the fire, they found a large number of burnt currency notes there. Police reached the spot and sent a video of these burnt currency notes and sent it to the Delhi Police Commissioner. After which he sent it to Delhi High Court Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and from there the video went to CJI Sanjeev Khanna.
CJI Sanjeev Khanna will now decide on the investigation report filed in the cash case of Justice Yashwant Verma’s house.
The CJI first took a report from the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and then investigated the house of Justice Yashwant Verma, in the case of getting a currency notes, the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Sheel Nagu, Himachal High Court Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Anu Shivraman of Karnataka High Court were investigated. When Justice Yashwant Verma was questioned by Delhi High Court Chief Justice DK Upadhyay, Justice Yashwant Verma told him that he had gone to Madhya Pradesh when he came to the house’s outhouse. Justice Yashwant Verma had said that he did not know where the cash came from. Also, Justice Yashwant Verma described it as a conspiracy to discredit it. After the incident, Justice Yashwant Verma was transferred to the Allahabad High Court and his judicial work has also been banned till further orders. At the same time, the Allahabad High Court Bar Association had questioned the transfer of Justice Verma and taking oath. It remains to be seen what CJI takes in Justice Yashwant Verma’s cash scandal.
