New Delhi. The case of burning cash is hot in the residence of Justice Yashwant Verma of Allahabad High Court. Sanjeev Khanna, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, had conducted an inquiry with a committee of 3 judges in this case. The ‘Live Law’ website has reported the report of this committee. According to the website, the inquiry committee has said in the report that Delhi Police was negligent in the case of cash burning at Justice Yashwant Verma’s residence in Delhi. The inquiry committee said in the report that the police and firefighters present on the spot went without seizing or made Panchnama and it was negligence. However, the committee also said in the report that it does not even see a mistake in the police work.
The inquiry committee of the judges has said in its report that there is evidence of a lot of cash on the spot. In such a situation, Justice Verma’s claim is wrong that there was no cash. Because of this, the committee has said that it is not necessary to tell how much cash it was. The committee also said in the investigation report that Justice Verma cannot defend himself on the basis of how much cash was found there. The committee has written in the investigation report that the high officials of Delhi Police said that the sensitivity of the case and the absence of Justice Yashwant Verma on the spot. Justice Yashwant Verma also told the committee that under the conspiracy, cash can be kept in the store room of his residence in Delhi.
Please tell that Justice Yashwant Verma was first posted in the Delhi High Court. The store room of his government residence was on fire on the night of 14 March 2025. To extinguish this fire, when firefighters and people of Delhi Police arrived, they found that a lot of cash was burnt there. In this case, the inquiry committee spoke to 55 witnesses. 10 witnesses told the judges’ inquiry committee that they had seen cash on the spot. At the same time, Justice Yashwant Verma says that after extinguishing the fire, his daughter and staff went there and did not show any cash. Outside Justice Verma’s residence, media people also received burnt notes. The inquiry committee of the judges also found that after the incident, the staff located at the house of Justice Yashwant Verma had cleaned the place. It is being told that the central government is going to bring impeachment motion against Justice Yashwant Verma in the monsoon session of Parliament.
