Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar said on Friday that if the party asks him to contest the Bihar assembly elections, he will definitely fight.
He used cricket terminology in a conversation with ‘PTI-Bhasha’ and said that as batting, bowling and fielding are all different responsibilities that have to be fulfilled in the cricket field, in the same way it is also a responsibility to contest elections in politics.
The assembly elections are expected in Bihar this year in Bihar this year.
Asked if he would contest the assembly elections, Kumar said, “Fighting elections, contesting elections, campaigning, all these are the responsibilities that the party gives. If the party tells me to contest elections, I will also contest elections. Even before, when I contested, it fought on the orders of the party. ”
In the context of contesting the assembly elections, Kumar also said, “If the captain asks me to sit out and make a drink to the people at the crease, then I will do this. And if the captain tells me, I will also bat in wearing a pad. ”
When asked about the Congress to present him as a major face in Bihar, Kumar said that the party has given him the responsibility in the same way that he gives millions of workers.
He said, “The party is like a team where different people have different roles. Previously, (MS) Dhoni was a wicketkeeper, now (Rishabh) is Pant. ‘
He said that the party works with collective efforts and the decision to contest elections should also be collective.
Kumar, former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union, has contested the Lok Sabha elections twice, although he suffered defeat. He first contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Begusarai in Bihar on a CPI ticket and then contested in 2024 on a Congress ticket from North-East Delhi.
Regarding the Election Commission seeking voters from Bihar, Kumar said that the Congress has asked the Election Commission to remove the discrepancies in the voter list.
He said, “If you question the Election Commission today, then the BJP answers them. You question the identity card number, the BJP answers. You question the CBI and the Income Tax Department, the BJP answers. I want to remind you that BJP had questioned EVMs… So if you (BJP) raise questions, it is fine, but if we do the same, then it is wrong.
