Kapil Dev's shocking statement on changing the name of Pataudi Trophy: Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy strange!

Kapil Dev surprised the name of the Pataudi Trophy for the Test series between England and India to the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, described it as “strange”. The decision was taken by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), which was taken in honor of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson. Kapil said, “It seems a little strange … does this happen too? But it’s okay, everything goes on in cricket. Finally, cricket only matters on the field.”

The Pataudi Trophy, which was launched in 2007, was named Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and his son Mansoor Ali Khan “Tiger” in honor of Pataudi, who contributed significantly to cricket for both India and England. Sunil Gavaskar and Sharmila Tagore also criticized this name. However, to maintain Pataudi’s legacy, the winning captain will be given the Pataudi Medal for Excellence.

Kapil made this comment during an event organized to remember his historic unbeaten 175 against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup. He advised the new Indian captain Shubman Gill to play and express himself without any expectation.
