Sibal expressed objection to live streaming of the hearing.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court today heard the case of the recent rape-murder case in RG Kar Hospital and Medical College in the city. During the hearing, lawyer Kapil Sibal was also present on behalf of the government. The bench of Chief Justice Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra heard the case. During the hearing, Kapil Sibal objected to the live streaming of the case. Sibal asked the CJI to stop it and said that an atmosphere is being created against us in the media. However, the CJI refused to stop the live streaming.
Sibal expressed objection to live streaming
In fact, Kapil Sibal, the lawyer on behalf of the West Bengal government, objected to the live streaming of the case on social media. Sibal, while objecting to the live streaming of the hearing of the case, said that such an atmosphere is being created on social media as if by supporting the Bengal government, we have stood on the side of the criminals. My 50 years of reputation is being destroyed overnight. It is being said in the media that I was laughing during the hearing. Kapil Sibal demanded from the CJI to ban the live streaming of the hearing of this case.
CJI refuses to stay
CJI rejected Kapil Sibal’s objection. CJI said that no, we will not stop live streaming. CJI further said that we will first see the status report of CBI. CJI rejected the demand to stop live streaming and said that this is a matter of public interest, this is an open court. As far as the issue of threats being received by lawyers is concerned, we will take care of it.
