A shocking turn has come to light in the murder of 68 -year -old Om Prakash, a former Karnataka Director General of Police and a 1981 batch IPS officer. The Bengaluru police has detained his wife Pallavi as the main accused. The incident took place on Sunday, 20 April 2025 on the ground floor of his three -storey residence in posh HSR layout in Bengaluru. According to police sources, Pallavi threw chili powder on Om Prakash’s face and then stabbed him several times and killed him.
What is the whole matter
According to the police, at around 4:30 pm on Sunday, Pallavi called the police helpline number 112 and reported the murder. He allegedly confessed to the call, “I have murdered.” The police car immediately reached the spot. But initially Pallavi and her daughter Kriti refused to open the door. The door was later opened on the arrival of HSR Layout Police Inspector and Zonal DCP Sarah Fatima.
As soon as the door of the house opened, the police saw that Om Prakash was soaked in blood on the ground floor and there were many stabs on his body. According to sources, Pallavi first threw chili powder on Om Prakash’s face, causing her eyes to fade. He then stabbed his neck, head and chest 10–12 times with a kitchen knife. After the murder, Pallavi made a video call to a friend and said, “I killed the demon.”
Family tension and property dispute
Police investigation has revealed that there was a long time marital bickering between Om Prakash and Pallavi. According to sources, there was a dispute between the two over a piece of land in Dandeli, Karnataka. A few months ago, Pallavi tried to lodge a complaint at the HSR layout police station regarding the case of this land, but the police did not take action on his complaint. After this, Pallavi staged a sit -in in front of the police station.
Apart from this, Om Prakash had decided to name all the property to his son Kartikesh, which was angry Pallavi. Kartikesh said in his complaint that his mother and sister Kriti often quarreled with her father. She also told that Pallavi was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia and was often in confusion.
Pallavi and Kriti detained police detained Pallavi and her daughter Kriti and are continuing questioning. However, no formal arrests have been made yet. Police Commissioner (West) Vikas Kumar Vikas said that a sharp knife has been recovered from the spot, which will be investigated. The exact cause and circumstances of the murder will be detected after the post -mortem report and other investigations.
Police and government response
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parmeshwar said that the investigation is going on and only after receiving the report, the reasons and circumstances of the murder can be commented. He said, “The former DGP has been murdered, his wife has said. Nothing can be said until the investigation is completed.” Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B.K. Senior police officers including Dayanand and DGP Alok Mohan reached the spot and monitored the investigation. Om Prakash’s body has been sent to St. John Hospital for post -mortem.
