On the 41st anniversary of Operation Blue Star, many people raised slogans at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. On the anniversary of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was killed during the operation, the leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Maan Gut) reached Simranjit Singh Mann Golden Temple, people raised slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’.

Operation Blue Star was a 10 -day military operation running from 1 June to 10 June 1984. The Sikh community celebrated the 41st anniversary of Operation Blue Star at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Friday. Security has been increased around the Golden Temple for the occasion.

On this occasion, Jasbir Singh Rode, former Jathedar of Akal Takht, said, “The government has no answer till date why such a holy place of Sikhs was attacked.” Sikhs were demanding their rights. He did not announce an attack against the Government of India. “

Then without any notice or warning, we were attacked as enemy countries are attacked. People across the seven seas are celebrating today. People from all over the country have come here to honor those who gave their lives for us for our religion. “

On raising slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ by people, he said, “These slogans have always been raised here and around the world. There is nothing new in this.”

June 6, 1984 was the day when the Indian Army attacked the Golden Temple under Operation Blue Star on the orders of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to prevent Sikh extremism under the leadership of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in Punjab. It was reported that Bhindranwale had hidden large quantities of weapons in the Golden Temple complex.

Bhindranwale was the head of the radical Sikh organization Damdami Mint. He was killed along with his armed followers during the Operation Blue Star launched by the Indian Army to get the terrorists out of the Golden Temple complex in June 1984.

This operation was very criticized. Month later, on 31 October 1984, Indira Gandhi was murdered by two Sikh bodyguards at her residence in New Delhi.

Beant Singh and Satwant Singh were the bodyguards of Indira Gandhi and killed him on 31 October 1984 at his residence.

In the Lok Sabha elections held last year, Sarabjit Singh Khalsa, son of Beant Singh (one of Indira Gandhi’s bodyguards), won by a margin of 70,053 votes over Aam Aadmi Party leader Karamjit Sing Anmol from Faridkot constituency.
