Kolkata Doctors Strike:

New Delhi. Doctors on strike in Kolkata over a rape case have refused to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The West Bengal government had called the doctors for talks following the Supreme Court’s order, but the doctors did not respond. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself reached the doctors for talks and waited for more than two hours, but the doctors did not come for talks. Mamata Banerjee then apologized to the people of the state and said, “I apologize to the people of Bengal with folded hands that we could not bring the doctors back to work.”

27 people died due to lack of treatment

The Chief Minister informed that 27 people have died so far due to lack of treatment in the state. He said, “I tried to talk to the doctors three times, but no meeting could take place. Now if there will be any talks, it will be with the Chief Secretary and other officials.”

Ready to resign: Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee further said that some people want to snatch her chair, but she is not hungry for power. She said, “I am ready to resign. I am not greedy for power.” Mamata Banerjee also alleged that some people are getting instructions from outside not to negotiate. She also said, “The people of Bengal were waiting that today this issue will be resolved, but the doctors could not be brought back to duty. I apologize to the public with folded hands.” Mamata Banerjee told that she waited for two hours for the meeting, but no doctor came to meet her. Now the next meeting will be held with the Chief Secretary and officials only.
