The victim expressed satisfaction with the Kolkata police investigation in the case of gang -rape of a 24 -year -old first year student on 25 June 2025 at South Calcutta Law College, Kolkata. During the hearing in the Calcutta High Court on Thursday, the victim’s lawyer told Justices Samen Sen and Smita Das De’s bench that the victim is happy with the police investigation so far and appreciates the quick response of the investigating officers.
The incident occurred in the college campus, where one alumni Manjit Mishra (31), two current students Pramit Mukherjee (20) and Jab Ahmed (19), and the college’s security guard Pinaki Banerjee (55) allegedly raped the victim. The victim, who is a Trinamool Student Council worker, alleges that she was lured as a prominent position in the student union to the guard room, where she was raped, hockey stick attack, threatened and made a video. He lodged a complaint with the police that he tried to escape and complained of panic attack, after which he was released.
The Kolkata Police arrested three main accused within 24 hours and later also detained the security guard. The four accused were sent to police custody till 8 July, and now they have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days till 22 July. The special investigation team of the police (SIT) rebuilt the crime scene and collected evidence such as CCTV footage, DNA samples, clothes, and hair strands, which match the victim’s statement.
The High Court has sought an affidavit on the progress of investigation from the West Bengal government and asked to present the case diary on 10 July. The court also ordered the closure of the body office till the student union elections. The National Commission for Women took self -cognizance of the case and demanded a time -long inquiry.
