New Delhi. The troubles of Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, are not decreasing. Sandeep Ghosh has been sent to judicial custody till 23 September by the CBI Special Court. Ghosh has serious allegations of financial irregularities during his tenure, due to which he was taken into CBI custody. Along with him, three other people have also been sent to judicial custody in this case, including Ghosh’s security personnel Afsar Ali, contractor Biplab Sinha and Suman Hazra.
Investigation into financial irregularities that surfaced after the Kolkata rape-murder case
The matter became more serious when recently a woman doctor was raped and murdered in RG Kar Medical College. This incident not only raised questions about security in medical institutions, but many other financial and administrative irregularities also came to light. After the initial investigation by Kolkata Police, on the orders of Calcutta High Court, CBI took over the investigation of this case on 13 August. During the investigation of CBI, it came to light that former principal Sandip Ghosh had ordered the demolition of a toilet located at the place which was near the incident spot on 10 August. The partial demolition of the toilet raises suspicion that some important evidence may be destroyed by this. CBI has considered it an important link related to the case and is now investigating in this direction as well.

Allegations of financial irregularities against former principal
During the investigation, it was also revealed that many financial irregularities had taken place during the tenure of Sandeep Ghosh, which included corruption in awarding contracts and construction works. Former Deputy Superintendent Dr. Akhtar Ali has demanded an investigation of these irregularities by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He has alleged that Dr. Sandeep Ghosh committed fraud in the contract of construction works and gave undue benefits to some contractors.
Suspicions of a link between alleged corruption and doctor’s death
Dr. Akhtar Ali has expressed the apprehension that there may be a connection between the doctor’s murder and financial irregularities. He claims that the deceased doctor probably knew about these irregularities and had threatened to expose them. In such a situation, the suspicion arises that his murder may be related to these corruptions.
The CBI has indicated that if needed, it may seek further custody of the accused so that more evidence related to the case can be collected. At present, Sandeep Ghosh and three other accused have been sent to judicial custody till September 23. The CBI is trying to connect more links in this case so that the truth can come out.
