Lalit Modi and Dawood Ibrahim
IPL 2025 season has started. In such a situation, an interview of IPL founder Lalit Modi has surfaced. In which he has expressed his views on leaving India. He said in an interview to a podcast that he left India in 2010, not because of legal troubles, but because of murderous pressure from underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Lalit Modi made this claim in the recent episode of Raj Shamni’s podcast ‘Figuring Out’.
Dawood had threatened
Lalit Modi said in an interview, “When I received death threats, I left the country.” “Initially, there was no legal issue due to which I had to leave the country. I had received death threats from Dawood Ibrahim. Dawood Ibrahim was after me because he wanted to do match fixing. There was a ‘zero policy’. For me, the anti-corruption campaign was very important and I felt the integrity of the game was very important.”
’12 hours guarantee was given from the police’
Lalit claimed that his personal bodyguard asked him to use the VIP exit at the airport for security. Matters escalated further when senior police officers told him that he was on the hit list and could only be guaranteed 12 hours of security. Lalit said, “Deputy Commissioner of Police Himanshu Roy was waiting for me at the airport.” “They told me, ‘We can’t protect you anymore. Your life is in danger. We can only ensure your safety for the next 12 hours.’ From there I was taken to the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai.”
Said this on returning to the country
Modi said in the interview that he could return to India “any day”. He said, “I can return to India tomorrow morning, but my point is not to go. Legally I am not a fugitive. There is not a single case against me in any court. If there is any case, please present it.” “
Let us inform you that it is well known that Lalit Modi is in the hit list of D-Company. A few years ago, Dawood’s trusted aide Chhota Shakeel had revealed in an interview that at the behest of an underworld don, a team of sharpshooters had gone to Bangkok, where Lalit Modi was staying. Chhota Shakeel claimed that he and his team of shooters reached the hotel where Lalit Modi was to kill him, but ran away as the former IPL chairman had prior information.
