New Delhi. RJD supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has suffered a setback from the Supreme Court in the job scam case instead of land. Lalu Yadav had demanded a stay on the proceedings of the trial court and the cancellation of the FIR, but the Supreme Court has dismissed his petition. The Supreme Court has asked the Delhi High Court to listen rapidly in this case. However, in view of Lalu Yadav’s age and his health, he has been given relief from personnel personally during the trial.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had said in its order on 29 May that there is no proper basis to stay the trial court proceedings. Lalu Yadav is accompanied by his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, daughter Hema Yadav and Misa Bharti in the land for job case. The CBI filed a final charge sheet against Lalu Yadav and other accused in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on July 6 last year. The CBI mentioned 78 accused in this charge sheet. After this, the ED filed a 100 -page supplementary charge sheet on 6 August 2024.
This case of job in lieu of land is between 2004 and 2009, the first term of the UPA government. At that time Lalu Yadav was the Union Railway Minister. It is alleged that Group D jobs were taken out in the railway. Their ancestral land was transferred from the youth to recruit these jobs. The ED alleges that two companies named AB Exports and AK Infosystems were used for land transfer. AK Infosystems bought 11 plots for 1.89 crores and later AK Infosystems were transferred to Lalu Yadav’s family members for just 1 lakh rupees.
