Atthlya Shekhar, who lives in 30 -year -old Sharjah, hanged himself the next day of his birthday. Now her husband, 40 -year -old Satish Shankar has been arrested at Thiruvananthapuram Airport in Kerala. Satish arrived in India from Dubai on Sunday morning with a flight, where the police took him into custody. Police say they have taken anticipatory bail (Anticipatory Bell) from the district court, and after recording their statement, they can be released as per the court order.
Atthlya’s family had filed a case of physical violence and dowry harassment against Satish. According to the Indian media report, he has been accused of forcing his wife to commit suicide, causing serious injuries with dangerous weapons, creating a wrong manner and cruelty by a husband or relative. Apart from this, a case is also registered under the law prohibiting dowry taking and demanding. Videos of assault by her husband were also viral on social media. A social worker had said that the police had issued a “lookout notice” against Satish, which means that the police will immediately take him into custody as soon as he returned to India.
Atthlya died on 19 July. After post -mortem and forensic investigation, Sharjah police described his death as a suicide. She was living in Rolla area of Sharjah for the last two years and was soon to start a new job in a mall. He celebrated his birthday with his sister. Atthlya’s 10 -year -old daughter lives in India.
Atthlya was cremated on 30 July in his native village Kollam. His father, who previously worked in the Gulf, now runs an autorickshaw in Kerala. A few days before his death, on 10 July, another Indian woman committed suicide in Sharjah the next day after killing her one and a half year old daughter. It is said that she was also living separately from her husband and was facing family feud and harassment.
