Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, known as Silicon City and Garden City, is going to be expensive from 1 April. From today, the residents of Bengaluru will have to give user fee i.e. garbage. Now domestic waste collection and disposal charge will also be levied on the already charged property tax bill from April 1. Users fees have been approved by the Government of Karnataka for disposal of waste. The fee was proposed by the Bengaluru Solid West Management Limited (BSWML) in November last year, which has been approved by the Urban Development Department headed by Deputy CM DK Shivkumar.

Earn up to Rs 600 crore annually

Depending on the size of the property, the waste management cost will have to be paid to the BBMP from Rs 10 to Rs 400. This will apply to every house, shop and office in Bengaluru. According to the estimate of BSWML, this user fee will earn up to Rs 600 crore annually.

Who will pay user fees?

The 600 square feet building will have to pay 10 rupees every month. 600–1,000 square feet- 50 rupees will have to be paid every month. 1,000–2,000 square feet- 100 rupees will have to be paid every month. 2,000–3,000 square feet- 150 rupees will have to be paid every month. The three -storey building in place of 30×40 square feet will have to pay a fee of Rs 150 a month. 3,000–4,000 square feet- 200 rupees will have to be paid every month. For 4,000 square feet or larger property, a fee of up to Rs 400 will have to be paid every month.

They will have to pay extra fees

There are many big apartments or commercial buildings where a lot of garbage collected everyday is drawn. If they do not seek the help of any West Processing Agency, then in this situation, 12 rupees will be taken per kg of garbage from them.

At the same time, let us tell you that protests have started in the state regarding this decision of Brihat Bangalore Metropolitan Municipality (BBMP). Karnataka Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA R Ashok has criticized this waste tax of the government. Ashok has targeted Deputy CM DK Shivkumar about this. He said that the CM’s chair is being recovered.
