New Delhi. This time the election battle for Loharu assembly seat of Haryana has taken an interesting turn. Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal belongs to this area, as he hails from a village in Loharu assembly constituency. However, in this election, his party’s candidate Geeta Bala could not strengthen her position, finishing fifth with only 255 votes. There was a close contest on this seat, where Rajveer Fartia of Congress won by a margin of just 627 votes. He defeated BJP’s Jaiprakash Dalal. In the initial phase of counting, Jaiprakash Dalal remained in the lead for four rounds, but with time he started lagging behind. However, there was some increase in his vote percentage in the afternoon, but this increase could not give him victory.

To make the contest exciting on Loharu assembly seat, JJP had fielded Alka Arya. INLD’s Bhup Singh Sheoran also participated in this election, but the main fight remained between Congress and BJP. This seat came into existence during delimitation in 1965 and since then Congress has maintained its influence on it. Out of total 13 elections, Congress has won 5 times, while BJP and INLD have won the remaining 8 times.

BJP had won this seat for the first time in 2019, when Jaiprakash Dalal won this seat from INLD. This time too the main contest was between Congress and BJP candidates. Among the 90 assembly seats of Haryana, Loharu has gained an important place in political history. However, AAP’s performance in this election was disappointing, which makes it clear that the political hold of Congress and BJP remains strong in the region.
